Most people find it a very gratifying experience!
The Open Water Scuba Diver course is a complete and carefully structured entry-level diving course. We will take you from a non-diver with little or no prior experience to a certified diver. Both PADI and SDI certifications are recognized worldwide and are for life.
With the Open Water Diver certification, you can safely dive to a maximum depth of 18 meters / 60 feet.
Learning to dive is incredible. During this course, you’ll make pool training dives to practice skills and at least four open water dives under the supervision of your scuba diving instructor here in the Riviera Maya, Mexico.
The Open Water Scuba Diver course:
- Theory: The theory part of the open water diver course includes bookwork, videos, study questions, and quizzes. The five dive theory chapters cover various topics such as pressure and depth, underwater environments, dive planning, equipment, and safety procedures.
- Pool Work: During the confined water classes, you will practice all the necessary scuba diving skills in the pool or an open water cenote. You will master the skills needed for Open Water Diving, such as air spaces equalization, mask removal, replacement, buoyancy, air sharing, and more in a controlled environment before going into the open water dives.
- Open Water Dives: This is when you apply the knowledge and skills you learned during the theory portion and confined water sessions. You will master these skills under your scuba diving instructors’ supervision and guidance in beautiful cenotes and the fantastic Mexican Caribbean reefs.
- E-Learning: Choose this option and start learning from the comfort of your home now. You will begin directly with the pool session in the morning and two shallow open water dives in the afternoon. After two deeper dives to 18 meters / 60 feet, the next day, you will be a certified diver!
