What Is the TDI Intro to Tech Instructor Course?
The TDI Intro to Tech Instructor Course trains qualified instructors to teach divers the foundational skills, equipment use, and planning habits needed for entry-level technical diving development.
This rating is not a decompression instructor rating on its own. The course focuses on teaching the foundations of technical diving in a no-decompression context, including technical equipment configuration, buoyancy, trim, propulsion, situational awareness, and advanced gas-planning concepts. TDI states that the course is strictly no-decompression, even when taught alongside Advanced Nitrox and Decompression Procedures material.
Best for: active dive professionals preparing to teach foundational technical diving skills.
Location: Playa del Carmen, Riviera Maya, Mexico.
Training focus: instructor-level teaching, control, evaluation, and risk-aware decision making.
TDI Intro to Tech Instructor course
This course is built for dive instructors with solid personal tech diving skills and who are ready to teach foundational technical diving.
Course: TDI Intro to Tech Instructor
Location: Playa del Carmen, Riviera Maya, Mexico
Level: Professional / instructor-level technical diving training
Training context: Technical diving foundations
Core focus: Equipment configuration, buoyancy, trim, propulsion, situational awareness, gas & dive planning, and student control
Best candidate: An active instructor who can explain the “why,” manage students in the water, and accept direct feedback.
During the course, the focus moves from personal performance to instructor control. You will be evaluated on how you brief, demonstrate, supervise, correct, and debrief foundational tech skills, maintaining the standard. This rating is a good next step for instructors preparing to develop students toward Advanced Nitrox, Decompression Procedures, cavern, cave, extended range, or trimix pathways.
